Day 35 - Welcome to NEW WUST!

We think today was going to be an OFF day for everyone because yesterday was our final lesson but the WUST stuffs have make plan for us to visit the new WUST campus. Some of us were a bit piss but we can’t disobey teachers’ rules so we just do the things that need to be done. It took us 45minutes to reach the new campus and the building at the new WUST is much more modern and beautifully constructed. The bad side about this new campus is located far away from the town area and there is not much mode transportation that passes through this new campus.

AHHA! Finally found her! JANE!When we reach there, there were large numbers of locals students to Welcome all of Us. I was so torch by how they greet us and welcome us to the new place. We took a group photo with all of them before each of us were assign with a local students. I was given the number 11 and I must ask the locals student there whether they have the same number as mine. Than this cute girl came to me and she says she have the same number as me. I shake her hands and introduce myself and she also introduces herself. Her name was Jane and she is a second year student studying in this new WUST. She is studying foreign language and she took English language in this University. The way she spoke to was quite impressive for a local student.

The first place we went is a meeting room that the local students are going to welcome us and give us a short brief of the thing that we are going to be doing in the afternoon.

The next place that the local students brought us was the School library. On the way to their school library I had a good conversation with my local partner, Jane. We get to know about each other and tell me more about the campus. When we reach the library, the size of the library is like the size of Singapore National Library. WOAH!! It was GIGANTIC. We went to library not to take at their library but to go to their mini exhibition of their school History. When there we have time in our hands, Jane has brought us more than the History exhibition area.

The next place that we went was the canteen. We had our lunch there and I know that all of us was already feeling hungry. HAHA! Their campus has a three story high canteen and each level have their own cuisines. COOL RITE!

After the meal, Jane will bring me around the campus and tell me more the place. There is quite a number of unique places in the NEW WUST! :D

NOW is game time! We were going to play games with the local. We were going to team up with our local buddies. I have a lot of fun with Jane as we enjoy each other company.

JUMPY! The last place we went is the biology lab. This was first time going to the lab and see dead people being cut in order for use to see the organs and different parts of the body. The place is not for the faint hearted. There are quite a number of disturbing images that I don’t want to take a look at it. This is science. In order for us to learn more about the body parts, we have to really cut a real body to see the real thing.

It was for us to say our goodbyes to our local buddies. I am sad to say goodbye to Jane as she have help me a lot for the whole day. Jane and I will stay in contact by e-mail. :)

When we went back to campus, there is not much we did. I have an early rest for today.

Reflection
Anyone that has helped me along the way in my life, I will remember them for the rest of my life. Jane is one of them. She just came to my life today and she’s already making a big impact on my life. She really welcomes me to her life and explains to me more about her and her life. It’s rare to find this type of people especially from another country. It’s good that I had met a good friends and I will remember her for the rest of my life. I hope that I will become better person that will help anyone that in need.

Day 34 - FINAL PRESENTATION

The day has come for Every group to present their masterpiece to Mrs Neo. Every of my roommates woke up early for today to get ready for the final presentation. I just do a bit of torch up in my PowerPoint slides to make nicer and to know the slides that I going to present to the class. My teammates meet up outside of room and we went to class together and discuss a bit on the things that we suppose to say during presentation.

When we reach the class, I can feel that most of the group is prepare to present their slides but still doing some torch up to their presentation. I know everyone in the room have scarifies the sleep to do this Final Presentation. They all look very tired but they still have some energy inside them to present the presentation and too get it over and done with.

We all draw lots again to determine which group was going to present their project first. I send a representative my group mate to draw the lot because i have been the most Suay guy for the whole trip. After Wei Qin have draw the lucky number 4 and we are going to be the forth group to present again. During our first presentation, we are the forth group to present and now also is the same thing.

I know that every group will present almost the same things but I want my group to be extra special. I know that every of my group members were very ON and they can try anything to make the project better. Wei Qin and I had planned to do a short skid to advertise our drink which is ALOHA!! I took us less than 20minutes to plan the whole thing out and this my first time planning a skid in such a short notice.

When out group was called upon to do our presentation, we all were as ready as every to get this presentation over and done with. Wei Qin was at the door waiting for the signal and I was waiting at the teacher table holding a drink. When a signal is given, Wei Qin will enter the door and will act as a girl that was thirsty for a drink and wanted to get a drink that was refreshing. Then I showed her drink that was called ALOHA and she take a single sip and she says it was the most REFRESHING drink ever.

That’s our skid and now back to our presentation. Every of my group member know take their places at the front of the class and I am the first one to present to the whole class. I am doing about the overview of Aloha and the objectives of selling the product at China. After that i pass the slides to Eline and so forth. I was glad that every of my group member present their slides very well that Mrs Neo only have a few Question to ask us. I was so relief after the presentation and every of us have a wide smile across our faces. After the presentation a group of us when out to celebrate the Completion of the FINAL PRESENTATION.

Reflection
I am proud to be in a group that are able to face the challenges together. We as a group are having some problems such as time constraints and some part of the project we are not sure how to do it. But, we face the problems together and solve it. 4 brains are better than one. HAHA! It have been fun solving the problems together as we bond well together and getting to know each other better.

Day 33 - PROJECT PROJECT PROJECT!!

The first thing that struck my head when I woke up today was that, I only have less than 24hours to do our PROJECT! I have my lunch first before I can get started with the project. There is PowerPoint slides, GANTT Chart and Word Document that needed to be done for this Project. There was so much to do in such a short period of time. As a leader, I must assign all my group member the things that needed to be done. We are working as a pair. Wei Qin and Amanda will be doing with Crash Cost and Eline and I will start doing on the report and Gantt Chart.

Eline and I will be doing all the Project work at her room as my room is being occupied by other groups. I was so stress out due to the fact that I am scared that will not be finish by the given deadline. But Eline was always been on my side and have helped me to relax and try to do all the work step by step. In order to do well in the Project, we must have faith with all of my group member and believe in them.

Eline and I sleep around 3am in the morning. We must consolidate all the report and finalise with our PowerPoint slides before we can have a good night sleep.

Reflection
Every group need to work hard in order to make a Project successful. That’s the key for Success. For a leader like me, I should know what the strength and weaknesses of each of my group member. From there I can assign the Job to them and I can know have a higher chance of succeeding and completing the Job that I have assigned to them. Not every time I with my group member that we need to do work and no play. I love to socialize with my group member and get to know them more about their life and what the things that interest them are. That’s the key to become a Great Leader.

DAY 32 - HAPPY BIRTHDAY SI HAO!!

The clock struck 12am. Everyone that includes all my China buddies and my close classmates were hiding at the toilet with a birthday cake at hand. Only Fathullah is in the room acting to do his work. Than we heard someone shout ALOHA from outside of our room and that is our signal to get ready to bring the cake out. When that Someone enter the room, he doesn’t really know what is happening at the room. After Fathullah give us another signal we start to walk from the toilet and start to surprise him and sing him the Birthday song.

It’s SI HAO BIRTHDAY!!! He was shock to see everyone in the room celebrating his birthday. He was speechless after that the only words that can come out from his mouth is Thank You for celebrating the Birthday with him. The local students had prepared for him a gift. It is CD with all of them Singing a Song to celebrate his Birthday and it is a unique give from them and I know Si Hao will keep with him for the rest of his life. Another present that they gave to him is clay that is being mould to a pot. There was Si hao name written in it and other Chinese wordings which i don’t understand. :x

The gift from all of us to him is a monkey cap which he look like a monkey all the time and a white shoe it is simple gift that we have given him and we are glad to celebrate his birthday with him. He cried after that, he was so torch by everything we have did for him. Don’t cry Big Boy. HAPPY 18th BIRTHDAY MY BROTHER!! Finally you are 18...

We ate only have of the birthday cake because all of us was already full when we celebrate his birthday. After we finish celebrating, I need to go up to my friends room to do something important which is PROJECT!

We woke up in the morning with cramp stomach because all of us ate a lot last night. When I woke up I saw the cake at the chair and we plan to give the cake to the rest of the classmates BUT there is a strange smell coming out from the cake. We think was a better idea not to give the cake to them if not that going to have stomach problems. You know what we did with the Cake?! We have a CAKE FIGHT IN THE ROOM!! I was so messy. All of us is cover with cake. HAHA!! And the floor is also cover with cake. After the Cake Fight, we all need to clean the whole room such as scrubbing the floor and whipping the walls. It’s hard work and all of use put the extra effort to make the room extra shiny. :)

After the clean up, we have make plans to go out with Si Hao to celebrate his Birthday. We going to 江汉路. There nothing much we did after that. We went back and get ready for tomorrow long day of lessons.

Reflection
It’s a happy day for everyone as we celebrate someone birthday that is close to us. Even though we are far away from home and Si Hao is not with his family to celebrate his birthday, we become a second family to him and celebrate this joyess day with him. That’s how close we have become for this trip. We really have grown a lot from one another and understand each other much better. If one of us is feeling down, any of us can go to that person and consolidate that person and cheer him up. After this trip, we all will be much closer than ever before and we have someone that we really trust when we come back to Singapore.
