A nice view of the Yellow Crane from far!
The first places I go went is the Yellow Crane Tower (Huáng Hè Lóu). It’s one of the most famous and historic tower in China. It’s located at the top of Sheshan also as the Snake Hill and it is near the Yangtze River. The place is full of tourist and the appearance of the building looks very ancient but some of the material that is used to build the tower is modern material.

Going off to lunch.

The Yellow Crane has a few legends behind it. The first legend is an immortal name Wang Zi’an rode off on a yellow crane from the Snake Mountain. The second legend is after becoming an immortal; Fei Wenyi would ride the yellow crane and often stop on Snake Mountain. The Tower was later built in commemoration. It first built in 223 AD as a military lookout in Wu Kingdom. It has been destroyed many times in different dynasties, and was rebuilt again and again.

The tour guide can only speak Chinese so in order for me to understand the history, i need a couple of friends to translate for me to English. The tour guide can really know the place very well and she can answer any question that’s being thrown to her. Every part of the places that she brings us, there is some meaning behind it and some of the story very interesting. There is a famous poem that’s being written by famous poetry such as Li Bai.

5-stars Hotel

So many variety to choose from..

3 muslim guys is trying dishes without Pork in it.

After an interesting trip to the Yellow Crane Tower, most of us are feeling hungry so we went to have our lunch to A five star hotel that is located not far from the Yellow Crane Tower. It took us only 15min to reach to the hotel. The Hotel look likes a mansion and the architecture of the building is superb. There is many painting all around the building. There are 2 rooms book for and one of the room are for MDE students plus the teacher and the other room is for the ECE students. Almost all the dishes that is serve to us have pork in it. I can’t eat anything with pork in it so the restaurant cook for us other dishes with non-pork in it suck us chicken, beef and vegetables. All the dishes turn to out to be nice and spicy. I love my food to be spicy. It’s good to try out dishes from different country as it have different taste than Singapore dishes.

Fun Shot with my members!

After a great meal, we went to a historic place that is located across the bridge. The museum looks like an ancient building with many Chinese writing in it. The museum is dedicated to a man that is called Boya. I will now tell you a bit of the history of this place. He was a senior officer of Jin state during the warring state Period of more than two thousand years ago. One year he was dispatched to leave the Chu state and set on a Boat. On his way back to Jin State, the boat moved at the foot of the Tortoise Mountain on the night of the middle Autumn Festival. When Boya was playing a five stringed Qin, one string suddenly broke off because a hermit named Zhiqi was overhearing to his music. Boya composed music to describe the lofty mountain and flowing water, while Zhiqi understood him quite well. They talked for the whole night and appreciate each other very much. At last they made an appointment that meet at the same time and same place next year. When Boya came back the next year, Zhiqi didn’t come to meet him. Boya found Zhiqi house and knew that he was died of illness. Being so sad, Boya went to Zhiqi tomb and played the music “lofty mountain and flowing water” for the last time. He broke his instrument and never played and instrument again. That’s the end of my history lesson. The place has nice scenery which we can see athe view of a big park. There is shop house that is selling Guzheng and other collectible items such as Guzheng songs. Is quite an experience even though we only given less than 1 hour to experience the whole place.

Shot of the DAY!

Reflection
I went to many historic places today and it is quite a special experience for me as I only know Singapore history. When I go to the historic places, I can feel that there is many stories to be told and things that need to be uncover. I really love to listen to something that happen in the pass especially stories that happen long time ago. It is a bit troublesome for me as i don’t understand Chinese and I keep on asking my friends to translate for me. I must slowly learn Chinese from my friends and my Chinese Buddies as it can help me in the future. I can pick up Chinese faster in China than in Singapore as I am surrounded with Chinese people every day. Tomorrow will be much relax day and i hope to have a great time with all my firends.
